IntraMaps - Adding a Spatial dimension to your corporate Intranet/Internet

IntraMaps is an out of the box solution for delivering GIS data via the intranet

T

he GIS community has been quick to embrace the potential of the web to enhance GIS solutions. The ability to quickly and easily disseminate spatial data via existing web architectures is enormously powerful and has the potential to minimise many of the limiting factors associated with traditional GIS architectures.

Many organisations that have implemented GIS solutions quickly realise that the true value of the GIS is associated with the data, therefore it is imperative that users are able to easily access this data.

In order to do this you need a web application that provides much more than just simple view and query access to your existing GIS data. You need a solution that can handle a variety of spatial data formats, you need to be able to easily bind your spatial data to your existing corporate databases, you need powerful querying capabilities, an ability to display results with many-to-many relationships, an ability to connect to multiple corporate databases such as Access, SQL Server or Oracle, spatial analysis capabilities and you need to be able to configure your application without the modification of source code.

IntraMaps has evolved to meet these requirements and includes the architectural features you require such as zero-footprint browser based client with user interface levels of interactivity an useability traditionally only available in windows applications. In order to compliment this architecture we have developed a Configuration tool that enables many different aspects of IntraMaps to be modified and extended by simply changing/adding/removing variables.

Requirements for an Internet application have important differences to most Intranet applications. Our InterMaps product has been designed with these differences in mind and while it provides many of the same architectural features as IntraMaps it has a number of important functional differences to optimise it’s usefulness on the Internet.
